Weddings or wild confines is a photographic story, an invitation to the deployment of bodies, to sensory experience, to listening to the invisible. Since the dawn of time, the wild coastline has been the place where the sea, animals and men dialogue. This space of porosities and encounters with Mediterranean nature has inspired bestiaries and mythology. Weddings or the Wild Borders, a contemporary and fabulous story, tells the story of a common, enchanted and vulnerable future.
During previous documentary work, from 2000 to 2015, Hélène David embarked on the High Seas and stayed in the American Arctic. These immersive experiences lead him to perceive new ways of relating between humans and other than humans.
Today, she explores the porosities in the living from her place of life, in search of a form of poetics to inhabit it, according to the expression of Tim Ingold. Its long-term investigation/creation system combines the production of photographs with other practices, such as the collection of archives, writing, contemporary dance or the realization of participatory workshops. Installations and works of editions then embody tracks of sensitive layouts as much as a search for material sobriety, in a contemporary context of transition of society.
She willingly shares her approach with other artists and with the public, in partnership with institutions such as the National Library of France, the Departmental Archives of Bouches du Rhône, the Calanques National Park or the Marseille Photographic Center.
